Beginnings, Magic and Change

Welcome to ‘Writing with the Seasons,’ a collection of writing prompts, ideas and inspiration that follow the rhythms of the natural world as the year unfolds. Thank you for joining me on this journey, month by month.

Welcome September! The pivotal point in the year, when summer closes and we transition to the darker months.

Now we feel the season change around us: rising up from the ground, in the air, above our heads. The Harvest Moon on 10 September will offer us a golden colour as if of both late summer and early autumn. It will linger on the horizon just after sunset, full and bright.

Tove Jansson calls the shift from August to September ‘the border’ of the year. She described it as the most beautiful time she knew.
