Welcome to ‘Writing with the Seasons,’ a collection of writing prompts, ideas and inspiration that follow the rhythms of the natural world as the year unfolds. We’re in our second year now! Thanks so much for joining me on this journey, month by month.
We’re moving towards the lighter side of the year. Gardens bloom with purple, white and buttery yellow crocuses that bring warmth and colour. The natural world is growing, blossoming and unfurling around us.
This transition from winter to spring is a chance to reconnect to our creative selves. An opportunity to tap into the hope and promise of the new season. As Alice Walker says: “I get energy from the earth itself. I get optimism from the earth itself. I feel that as long as the earth can make a spring every year, I can. As long as the earth can flower and produce nurturing fruit, I can… I won't give up until the earth gives up.”
Being open to the seasons helps us become more grounded and connected to the world, which in turn supports us to be honest and authentic in our writing.
