The season is slowly turning, and there are signs of spring in the air. I’ve put together a lovely list of springtime reads for the Write & Shine Bookshop. There’s a good mix of poetry, fiction, and nature writing about birds in flight, wondrous city plants and walking outdoors. Plus a selection of titles on writing and being curious about the world.

My springtime reads!

Sylvia Plath’s poetry often explores the self and its connection to the natural world. I’ve included in my list this collection ‘Ariel,’ which includes ‘Tulips,’ Plath’s evocative poem about the red, vivid flowers received by a woman in a pale, white hospital bed.

Writing with the Seasons is a reader-supported publication. To receive all new posts and support my work, please consider becoming a paid subscriber or gifting a subscription.

Need a creative boost this spring? From March to May, I’ll be hosting a series of virtual writing workshops for Write & Shine taking inspiration from the light and colour of springtime.

Join me to explore spring, the sky and creativity, with morning workshops on clouds and birds, Joni Mitchell and Jamaica Kincaid, and the delights we find when we remember to look up. Explore the programme here!
