Welcome to ‘Writing with the Seasons,’ a collection of writing prompts, ideas and inspiration that follow the rhythms of the natural world as the year unfolds.


Greetings from Germany! Yesterday, we shaped our day with a walk around a lake. The weather was stormy and a little wild, but warm. We travelled to Schlachtensee, a lake in a forest, with small, shady bays along the water.

From the train station, we walked to the lakeside. I had in mind other women walkers, such as Rebecca Solnit who says, ‘Walking shares with making and working that crucial element of engagement of the body and the mind with the world, of knowing the world through the body and the body through the world.’
